Akshay Kumar jokingly blames Kapil Sharma for the failure of his films, says, “Ye aadmi itni nazar lagata hai” – Times of India
Welcoming Akshay on the show, Kapil said, “Paji, har birthday pe aap ek saal chhote kaise ho jaate ho (Brother, how do you turn a year younger on every birthday)?” to which Akshay replied, “Ye aadmi itni nazar lagata hai sab cheezo pe… meri filmo pe, paiso pe nazar daal di…ab filmein nahi chal rahi koi (this man jinxes everything I do, my films, my money…now none of my films are working).”
Commenting on the poor box office fate of his movies, Akshay had previously said, “Films are not working, it is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me.” When Akshay was asked if actors are now opting for OTT over theatrical releases to create a safe space amid box office failures, he had said, “It is not safe, that also requires people to say if they like the trailer or not. Nothing is safe, it is not our safety net. Even here (on OTT) people are watching, the media is watching it, the critics are watching it, the audience is watching it, they give feedback whether they like it or not. So, there’s nothing like creating a safe space, you have to work hard, period.” Akshay Kumar has ‘Selfiee’, ‘OMG: Oh My God 2’, ‘Gorkha’, ‘Capsule Gill’, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ remake and ‘Ram Setu’ in the pipeline.
