Big relief! Check out the Google Meet background indicator

Google Meet now indicates when and how much background noise is being removed.

Google Meet is a collaboration app built for virtual meetings and used by millions of people. It is a tool that has come into its own in the current hybrid work atmosphere. In fact, Google Meet provides a seamless meeting experience. However, there were some issues that needed improving and now, Google has announced a new addition that will make your work experience even better.

One of the major issues people have encountered while using Google Meet is poor audio quality when the audio gets distorted despite good network connectivity. To counter this Google had introduced a background noise cancellation feature which could be used to remove the unnecessary background noise. However, this feature would not let users know when it was removing background noises and by how much. Now, Google has brought a background noise indicator to let people know when background noise is being reduced.

The feature is in the form of a blue voice indicator which expands and contracts based mostly on the background noise and the way a lot of noise is being eliminated when the noise cancellation is enabled.

Earlier in June, Google had announced plans to merge its Google Duo and Google Meet app which would combine the functionality of both previous apps into one. Google has started killing off the Google Duo app last week. Users will be able to see the changes in the Google Meet app, along with a new UI.

Google Meet has become ever popular during the pandemic which drastically changed work culture around the world. As more and more people shifted to working from home, apps such as Google Meet and Microsoft Teams paved the way for a new way of communication. But as the world resumes normality, Google’s biggest challenge lies ahead- how to combine meetings with virtual as well as physically present participants as efficiently and effortlessly as possible.
