‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ box office collection Week 4: Chris Hemsworth starrer misses 100 Crore mark by a whisker – Times of India

Chris Hemsworth’s ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ was expected to roar at the Indian box office, but going by the numbers, the film still has a bit of catching up to do.

The movie, which is the fourth Marvel film featuring the God of Thunder, fell short of the 100 crore mark in its fourth week at the box office. The film earned an estimated Rs 99.35 crore nett as it nears the end of its run in theatres.

According to boxofficeindia.com, the film should ad enough over the next few days to get it past the 100 crore benchmark. The film that comes after the success of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’, was expected to make a bigger splash at the ticket windows. However, the film that made a strong Rs 79.10 crore opening, could not keep up the winning streak.

‘Thor’ went on to earn add an estimated Rs 14 crore, Rs 4.39 and Rs 1.50 crore in its second, third and fourth weeks respectively.

On the international front, the movie has sailed past the $600 million mark. However, it still has a long way to go to match the numbers set by ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ which was released in 2017. The third film in the ‘Thor’ franchise, finished its worldwide theatrical run with over $850 million.

It is unclear if the banning of the film in Gulf and other Middle Eastern countries hampered its box office success. It was reported that the Hollywood blockbuster was banned because it featured gay characters.

“The ministry of information has decided to halt projection of one of the films showing in cinema halls for the sake of preserving and safeguarding society’s moral values,” the ministry said in a brief statement.

The ministry did not specify the name of the film banned, but screenings of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ were halted.
