Microsoft Teams DOWN: Thousands of users unable to access the platform as Twitter erupts in complaints

Microsoft Teams Down: Microsoft Teams, the popular videoconferencing application, is facing outage as thousands of users have been left unable to access the platform. According to reports, a recent deployment to the application caused the outage by breaking the server’s connection to an internal storage device. The company has said that it is investigating the disruption and trying to fix the problem, however the problem has not been resolved at the time of writing this article.

The first report came from the crowdsourced outage monitoring website Downdetector.in at around 7 AM IST today. By 9 AM, more than 1600 reports highlighted the problem with the application. According to the latest update on the website, the issue is still persisting currently. 

Microsoft Teams Down results in Users complaining on Twitter 

Many users took to Twitter to post about the frustrating experience of trying to access the platform. Soon, #MicrosoftTeams and #TeamsDown began trending on the microblogging platform. 

One user tweeted, “FYI Microsoft Teams is currently down. Calls seem to still be working by the chat functionality is not.”

Another user thanked MS Teams for saving him from an intense meeting. He said, “Thank you. An urgent meeting in which i was supposed to be thrashed is now cancelled. Thank you so much Microsoft teams”. 

It appears that the issue was also persisting in specific locations on Wednesday, with Downdetector reporting as many as 2,800 reports. According to an NDTV report, Microsoft tweeted about the issue that spanned across Microsoft 365 services like Microsoft Word, Office Online and SharePoint Online which were integrated with Teams. The tweet said, “We’ve taken action to reroute a portion of traffic to provide some relief within the environment”. It is unclear at the moment whether the same issue of Wednesday is responsible for today’s outage suffered by users.
