Madonna, Tequila, and a Jungle: Inside All the Best Pride Parties of the Weekend
Over the past week, New York sizzled with flamboyance and joy. In the lead-up to Sunday’s parade, which marked the 52nd anniversary of the Stonewall riots, the city lit up with celebrations. These five gatherings, whether intimate or outrageous, represent all that Pride stands for: Community, creativity, and fearlessness.
Standard x Grindr x 818’s Tequilla-Filled Fete
Even during a week saturated with celebration, The Standard High Line’s annual Pride party cannot be missed. (Madonna’s performance last summer will live on in fame or infamy, depending on whom you ask.) This year’s bacchanal, hosted with Grindr and 818 Tequila, did not disappoint. New York’s brightest design talents, including Fernando Garcia, Christian Siriano, and Prabal Gurung, mingled with musicians, models, and cultural disruptors. The epic dress code (“Liza with a Gen Z does Dangerous Liaisons: A Space Odyssey”) tested even the most sartorially advanced. DJ Mazerbate spun tracks until the wee hours as guests savored The Boom Boom Room’s staggering views.
Costa Brazil’s Pop-Up Party
At the Costa Brazil pop-up store in SoHo, founder Francisco Costa hosted a fete in celebration of Pride. Violet Chachki, of Drag Race fame, led the festivities with characteristic panache. In the wood-paneled space, guests danced and sipped Caipirinhas. A series of limited edition t-shirts by Out of Order—100% of the proceeds will go to UKRAINEPRIDE—were previewed at the party.
