Windows 11’s ‘game changing feature’ may have been ‘inspired’ by Apple – Times of India

Windows 11 — the next update for Windows PC and laptops — is slated to come in the second half of the year and is currently in beta testing with Windows Insiders. It may be a while before everyone will get to experience the new Windows OS, but it appears till then the company plans to talk about one feature at a time.
Windows and Devices chief Panos Panay has revealed a new Focus Sessions feature that will be part of Windows 11 update on Twitter. Calling it a ‘game-changer’ this feature was teased through a small clip.
In this clip, it can be seen that Windows 11 Focus Sessions will allow users to select a task from a list of tasks for a particular Focus Session. After this, it will allow them to choose a song through an integrated music streaming app to play while doing that task. Post this, it will allow users to select the time limit for that task with support for optional breaks in between.
The Focus Session feature has been introduced for now and is soon going to be made available to Windows Insiders, said Brandon LeBlanc, senior program manager on the Windows Insider Program Team on Twitter.

Apple’s Focus Mode
Earlier this year, Apple announced Focus Mode that it will roll out with the iOS 15 — which is expected to happen in September — and once it is enabled on one Apple device, it automatically applies to users’ other Apple devices.
With the Focus Mode from Apple, users will be able to set filters to notifications, calls, and even messages. Users can get alerts exactly how and when they need them at particular times. There’s an auto-reply feature as well which can automatically send messages when you don’t want to use the iPhone. Once Focus mode is on, there’s an option to customise the home screen as well.
