Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur has said that the second Khelo India University Games (KIUG)-2021 will begin at Bengaluru in Karnataka from tomorrow. Talking to reporters in New Delhi on the sidelines of a function, Mr Thakur informed that Vice President M Venkiah Naidu will inaugurate the 10-day event in the evening. The Union Minister said that KIUG 2021″ will witness participation of nearly 3900 sportspersons from around 190 Universities.
University Games is the largest platform of University-level players which aims at providing a national-level launch pad for University students to showcase their talent and catch the eyeballs of the national team selectors for various sports.
DD Sports will bring the event of Khelo India University Games
live to everyone’s TV and Mobile, starting from tomorrow. Introduced in 2020, as part of Khelo India Games to revive sports culture in India, the second edition of Khelo India University Games is being held from 24th of April to 3rd of May. It is the largest university level sports competition in the country intended to identify and train athletes in the age group 18 to 25 years for the Olympics and the Asian Games.
The games will be broadcast on DD Sports channel from 9 A.M. to 6 P.M. everyday. This will be followed by half-an-hour highlights and statistics based shows and another half-an-hour show on the young talents to watch out for. The Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be broadcast live on DD Sports and DD National. Apart from the TV broadcast, to bring multiple games live to the viewers, four live streams of DD Sports will be available simultaneously on Prasar Bharati Sports YouTube channel. The broadcast will be interspersed with English and Hindi commentary and engaging graphics.
