‘KGF Chapter 2’ box office collection day 2: Hindi version on course for Rs. 40-45 Cr on day #2, Rs. 175 Cr. by weekend – Times of India
The same trade study by Box Office India reveals that the main cause for the slight dip in the performance is the Delhi/UP sector, which has witnessed a drop in sales since the pandemic and the same factor has affected every single major release ever since. With Friday, April 15th, being a holiday mostly in urban areas on account of Good Friday, other mass centres too witnessed a drop in ticket sales but one can expect a rise again over the weekend. With this projection in mind, Box Office India suggests that ‘KGF Chapter 2’ (Hindi) has Rs. 175 cr. (approx) in sight by the end of Sunday (April 17th).
The original Kannada version too continues its great run after having shattered the records on the opening day. The box office numbers of the Kannada version are likely to fluctuate over the next few days with the rest of the dubbed versions in south India, especially Telugu, performing at the highest levels. On Day 1 alone, the Telugu states contributed close to Rs. 25 Cr. while Tamil Nadu (despite the ‘Beast’ run) and Kerala brought in about Rs. 15 Cr. combinedly. The morning of Day 3, or April 16th, will offer a clearer perspective of the geographical trend in India for the Yash and Sanjay Dutt starrer.
‘K.G.F: Chapter 2’ has certainly lived up to the hype with the film receiving an almost unanimous acceptance from both critics and the global audience. The film has gone past the $2M figure in the USA alone and has performed to a similar extent in the other overseas locations. Leveraging the long weekend, the makers are reaping the rewards of their sound strategy. More updates to follow soon.
