Lingua Franca Teams Up with Lola Taverna and God’s Love We Deliver
In honor of Lingua Franca’s latest collaboration with Lola Taverna, fashion folk gathered under the eatery’s floral arches to celebrate the start of a cashmere campaign benefiting God’s Love We Deliver. The “Lola” Lingua Franca limited-edition and sustainably sourced sweater is hand-stitched by local women with 100% of proceeds going to God’s Love We Deliver.
For over 30 years, God’s Love We Deliver has served nutritious meals to millions of New York City residents in need. The goal of the growing non-profit is to improve the health and well-being of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other serious illnesses that prevent them from accessing proper nutritional needs. “Food is not a luxury, it’s a necessity,” explained Lola Taverna’s co-owner Cobi Levy. “God’s Love We Deliver brings this to New York’s most vulnerable and we all benefit. It’s an honor to support their endeavors.”
Not only does God’s Love We Deliver never say no to a new client, but they also provide every individual with illness-specific nutritional education and counseling. “Don’t forget about the birthday cakes!” Dorinda Medley exclaimed. “Of course, how could I forget” Brandon Bryant of God’s Love We Deliver chimed in. “For some clients, our personalized birthday cake deliveries are the only reminder of their special day.”
Guests including Jennifer Fisher, Rajni Jacques, MT Carney, Samah Dada, Sandra Perez, Chrissy Rutherford, Olga Luz Tirado, and Tim Cush enjoyed a colorful, four-course meal to mark the first celebration of the long-term initiative. On the menu, a mezze spread, spanakopita, grilled octopus with chickpeas, chicken Souvlaki, and marinated strip steak were crowd favorites.
As the special partners and honored attended look ahead, it’s clear that paying it forward starts with community.
