An earlier report by Bloomberg had claimed that the game was not going to launch this year and that the launch had been pushed to early 2022. Late February still makes the cut for the early 2022 launch.

Horizon Forbidden West continues the story of the young hunter Aloy, the protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn and features the Machines again. While the trailer showed the majestic in-game open world, it revealed little when it came to the story. As per the game description on the PlayStation Store, Aloy would have to unravel the mystery behind why life on Earth is headed towards extinction. She must call on old friends for help and forge alliances with new tribes to take on a new enemy
For the PS5, Horizon Forbidden West could come with PS5-exclusive features like haptic feedback for the DualSense controllers, faster loading times, more detailed graphics etc. Speaking of PS5, Guerilla Games announced in a blogpost that Horizon Zero Dawn has been upgraded with an Enhanced Performance Patch for the PlayStation 5. The patch is free and will be automatically integrated in the game if you have a copy. The performance patch aims to achieve 60 FPS gameplay.
