Roy Keane has shown off his cuddly side in his latest Instagram post, which shows him dressed as the character Chase from PAW Patrol.

The former Manchester United captain held the head of the costume as he posed for a picture alongside two of his young relatives, thought to be his grandchildren.

In the caption for the post, Keane wrote: ‘Available for party hire. I don’t like parties or kids but the pool needs heating.’

The 50-year-old has developed a reputation for his no-nonsense punditry style but since joining Instagram in Februray, he has shown a softer and more humourous side.

Keane has shared pictures of his grandchildren in earlier Instagram posts, with his grandson even copying his famous scowl.

Other posts have featured pictures from his playing days, including one of him being strangled while playing for Nottingham Forest.

The caption read: ‘Don’t forget to show some love today.’

Another post featured him out on his bike but the former midfielder insisted he wouldn’t be donning lycra any time soon.

He wrote: ‘I’ll wear the helmet but if you see me wearing lycra, run me over.’

Keane has 1.5million followers on the social media platform but is not following anyone himself.

While Keane has shown a humourous side with fellow Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards, he was back to his no-nonsense approach alongside Graeme Souness on Sunday.

The pundit was critical of Manchester United midfielder Fred after he deflected Che Adams’ shot into his own net during their draw with Southampton.

Keane said: ‘Fred, you’ve got to be ready to nail him and he just dangles a leg. He’s unlucky with the deflection but he’s got to do more, he’s got to do better than that.’

He also questioned the quality in United’s midfield after they were unable to find a winner at St Mary’s.

‘There was certainly one or two question marks,’ Keane said of United’s performance.

‘I go back to the lads in the middle of the park, not enough creativity, not enough quality. United will be disappointed with a draw but Southampton deserve credit.’
