83 box office collection week 2: Ranveer Singh starrer sees big drop on second Monday; earns Rs 1.75 crore – Times of India
The film that was mounted on a huge production budget of Rs 280 crore is sluggishly moving towards the 100 crore mark. On its second Monday at the box office, the film earned just Rs 1.75 crore nett which is a huge 60-65% drop from its Friday collections.
The film has managed to stay afloat over the New Year’s holiday period with business picking up in metro multiplexes. However, Monday’s drop in revenue has seemingly set the tone for the rest of the week.
Reports on boxofficeindia.com state that the second week of business of the film looks to be heading towards the Rs 25 crore nett mark. The collections of the film till date, stands at Rs 88 crore nett.It was reported that the Hindi dubbed version of the Allu Arjun film, ‘Pushpa’ had a much better business in its third week than 83 had in its second week.
Trade experts predicted a much better outcome for the film, considering several other big-ticket films like ‘Jersey’, ‘RRR’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ opted to postpone their theatrical releases.
With the rise in Covid-19 cases around the country and the possibility of another lockdown, it remains to be seen if the film will reach the Rs 100 crore nett mark at the box office.
While the Bollywood film struggles to rake in the big bucks, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and ‘Pushpa’ have zoomed past the Rs 200 crore nett mark.
Meanwhile, rumours are rife that the team is considering an OTT release for the film as soon as it bows out of theatres in the weeks ahead.
