This bug in Windows 11 is creating an issue with colours on some HDR monitors – Times of India
There is a new bug in Windows 11 that is causing the colours to be rendered incorrectly. The most common issue that cropped up in this bug is that it is showing white as yellow. This bug is appearing when certain image editors are being run on some monitors that support HDR.
Techradar reports that Microsoft is thoroughly investigating this issue and the software giant has flagged it on a support document that lists all the current known issues that Windows 11 has encountered.
Microsoft states, “After installing Windows 11, some image editing programs might not render colours correctly on certain HDR displays. This is frequently observed with white colours, which could display in bright yellow or other colours.”
“This issue occurs when certain colour-rendering Win32 APIs return unexpected information or errors under specific conditions. Not all colour profile management programs are affected, and colour profile options available in the Windows 11 Settings page, including Microsoft Colour Control Panel, are expected to function correctly,” the software giant added
The company also observed that the colour glitch is affecting the ones that especially those running Windows 11 version 21H2. Microsoft has confirmed that it is currently working on a fix, and can be expected to be delivered by late January.
The expected arrival date could mean that we might find this fix bundled in a single update in preview (testing) for the same month, which might see a full release and Patch Tuesday in February.
Fortunately, this particular bug is restricted to a limited number of subsets. This bug is just affecting certain image editors and only causing the issue in certain HDR monitors.
