Can last minute-shoppers get what they need from Walmart on Christmas Eve?
So you’re that person. That person that waited until the literal last minute to try and get their nibling or spouse that perfect Christmas gift. Good luck, you’re going to need it. Never mind that supply chains have been disrupted ever since the start of the pandemic and Walmarts aren’t exactly getting stocked as frequently as they used to. No, you’re also going into their store on Christmas Even, when in a good year it usually looks like it was picked apart by rioters in a zombie movie. Now you’re walking into the perfect storm of events, where both events are happening at the same time. It’s the couch for you tomorrow, friend.
Still, you plead, there’s a chance they have something? Anything really, and yes, they probably have something. Maybe not what you want and if it’s still on the shelf at close on Christmas Eve, probably not what anyone wants, but maybe you’ll get lucky, with your last-minute gift shopping.
So what can you expect the hours of operation to be late on Christmas Eve?

Well, it’s not looking good for you, that’s for sure. If you get to Walmart at open, which is 8 AM, you may be ok. Maybe they don’t have exactly what you want but you can find something. Even if it’s a blanket and a 12-pack of Hot Pockets.
Better than nothing, and just barely that that.
Yet, if you’re hoping to get there after work; you might be out of luck. Some stores could close as early as 6 PM, while others may be open as late as 8 PM. It’s going to depend on your region and how busy the stores usually are.
If you think a store like Target might be a better option, keep in mind they often compete with Walmart and other big box stores, so you’re not going to see them operating too differently and most will be closed between 6-8 PM on Christmas Eve.
