Few places are as fun to explore as New York, especially when you’re there to participate in a holiday tradition. In town to perform at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, K-Pop girl group Aespa had 24 hours of free time to experience all Manhattan has to offer. Though it was their first trip to the city together, members Giselle, Karina, Ningning, and Winter had a lengthy list of sightseeing destinations they wanted to take in. First top on their tour? A casual brunch at Soho’s Maman where they enjoyed croissants, cookies, and the cafe’s Instagram-worthy decor.
From there, the girls headed uptown to the Empire State Building for some fun on the Art Deco skyscraper’s observation deck. Inside, they took in the museum filled with tributes to the pop culture moments the landmark has inspired, and posed in a replica of King Kong’s hand. Sculptures honoring the workers who worked miles above the city to construct the tower provided Aespa with an impromptu history lesson. Still, the highlight of their trip may have been stepping outdoors to enjoy the panoramic views and sing ‘Empire State of Mind.’
No trip to New York would be complete without shopping, and the girls wound down with a visit to Hamlet’s Vintage in Greenwich Village. After pausing to play with puppies, discuss their style, and the differences between American and Korean fashion, they had just enough time to visit another landmark: Times Square. Though they’re accustomed to seeing their names in lights, the group blended in like true New Yorkers.
