WhatsApp may reportedly log you out of linked devices – Times of India
Recently, WhatsApp rolled out multi-device feature for all beta users. The feature allows users to access the platform on multiple devices even if there is no connectivity on the main smartphone. Users can link a single WhatsApp account with up to four more devices. The platform is now reportedly implementing a security fix that may hamper the multi-device feature. According to a report on WABetaInfo, several users complained about issues in syncing data between linked devices and to address that, the Facebook-owned platform is introducing a fix.
As per the report, WhatsApp may automatically log your linked devices out to fix the syncing issue. The report further mentions that the fix has been implemented on beta users on Android and iOS devices. WIth the fix, if your device experiences issues in syncing data, the platform will automatically log your devices as a safety precaution.
The users who have reportedly received the fix see a message when they open WhatsApp Settings > Linked Devices. “Your devices were logged out due to an unexpected issue. Please relink your devices.” the message reads.
This week, WhatsApp also announced more control for its disappearing messages feature. Users now have the option to turn on disappearing messages automatically for all their new one-on-one chats. Once set, all future messages in these WhatsApp chats will be automatically deleted. Apart from this, the company has also added two new durations for disappearing messages: 24 hours and 90 days. The company has clarified that the feature is optional and does not change or delete any of your existing chats. Disappearing messages setting also won’t affect messages that users previously sent or received in the chat.
