Liverpool: Jude Bellingham pours cold water on links with a move to Anfield

Jude Bellingham has rubbished claims that he is eyeing a move to Liverpool as the Borussia Dortmund youngster put to bed rumours of an Anfield switch on Twitter.

Former Premier League star Craig Hignett claimed on Monday that he heard on ‘good authority’ that Bellingham, 18, had decided to move to Liverpool from Dortmund next summer.

‘I think I’ve heard it on good authority and I can’t say where I’ve heard it from, but apparently he has been saying that he is Liverpool bound,’ former Middlesbrough man Hignett told BBC Radio Merseyside.

‘Whether that is January or whether that is the end of the season isn’t sure yet, but I think, I have it on good authority that it is almost a cert.’

Hignett’s comments intensified speculation linking the England international with a move to Anfield after Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl confirmed that Liverpool are one of a number of clubs in for the former Birmingham starlet.

However, Bellingham has laughed off links with a departure from Germany next summer, tweeting a GIF of himself in hysterics while away with the Three Lions.

However, the youngster took to Twitter to amuse at reports linking him with the Reds

The 18-year-old is developing a reputation as the hottest young talent in world football due to his incredible performances with the Bundesliga side.

Dortmund sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United for £73million last summer but Bellingham has duly stepped up to the plate to help make up for the goals and assists provided by his England team-mate. 

Bellingham has scored three goals and provided six assists during 16 appearances thus far, including an incredible solo effort against Arminia Bielefeld.

Kehl has insisted that Dortmund have no plans to sell Bellingham, or any of their star players, any time soon.

‘He is a Borussia Dortmund player and remains a Borussia Dortmund player,’ he told Sport1. ‘There’s a lot of interest around Jude Bellingham, not only Liverpool.

‘It’s good that we talk about our players. It shows that we are doing something right. We can offer a lot at Borussia Dortmund. We want to win titles, but we have to keep the guys for that.’
