The tradition of victory cigars began back in the 1950s when former Alabama athletic trainer Jim Goostree handed out cigars to Crimson Tide players following a win over Tennessee. This tradition has continued ever since.

In the all-time series, Alabama has won 57 of the 100 games. The Crimson Tide currently has a 14-game winning streak, as the Volunteers have failed to win a game since 2006.
