Roma ‘agree deal to sign West Ham flop Gianluca Scamacca on loan – with £19m option to buy’ – as the Italian looks set to end his woeful move to the Premier League
- West Ham beat PSG to the £35.5m signing of Gianluca Scamacca last season
- The Italian failed to settled and scored just three times in the Premier League
- Scamacca is reportedly set to make an immediate return to Serie A with Roma
Roma have agreed to sign West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca on an initial loan with an option to buy, according to reports in Italy.
The forward joined the Hammers last summer for £35.5m but had a disappointing first season which was disrupted by injuries.
As a result, he has been linked with an immediate return to Italy but wranglings over a permanent fee had put a potential transfer in jeopardy.
But according to Calciomercato.com, West Ham are prepared to let the 24-year-old sign with the Giallorossi on-loan for a fee in the region of £4m with a £19m option to buy.
A permanent transfer would become obligatory if Scamacca registers a certain number of appearances in the 2023-24 season and Roma qualify for the Champions League as per the report.

Roma will be without Tammy Abraham for a large portion of next season after his injury
The deal would represent somewhat of a steal for Jose Mourinho’s side who are still reeling from the implications of the long-term injury Tammy Abraham sustained in the final game of last season.
The ex-Chelsea man is set to be sidelined for a large chunk of the next campaign leaving the cash-strapped Serie A club without a high earning attacker and with no market to sell while he is on the treatment table.
Scamacca has shown himself more than capable of scoring in Italy, first impressing on-loan at Genoa in 2020-21 before his breakout campaign back at Sassuolo during the next season in which he scored 16 goals in 36 league games.
Roma General Manager Tiago Pinto will reportedly fly to London to finalise the deal in the coming days.
