The UFC octagon echoed with screams of pain when women’s strawweight Istela Nunes dislocated her elbow in the first round of her UFC Vegas 77 bout on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Nunes squared off with undefeated prospect Viktoriya Dudakova and unfortunately for the Brazilian, things went downhill fast.
The pair traded strikes early before Dudakova secured a takedown, grabbing Nunes’ left ankle.
Nunes tried to defend and fell back onto her left arm, but it shockingly buckled underneath her and she immediately began to scream out in pain.
Nunes continued to scream and it was immediately clear that her elbow was badly dislocated. Dudakova realized the extent of the injury and backed away as the ref rushed in.

The contest was declared over in just 34 seconds and Dudakova was awarded the first-round TKO victory.
Unfortunately for Nunes, the fight was her fourth UFC loss in the promotion and now she risks being cut entirely.
After the bout, UFC president Dana White shared a photo of Nunes’ X-ray on his social media.
Although no official medical diagnosis was given, the scan appears to show a complete dislocation of the elbow.
The MMA community was quick to react to the gruesome injury, with many fighters offering well-wishes to Nunes.
‘Ohh I feel so bad for Istela Nunes. Especially because I think that was her last chance to prove that she deserves her spot in UFC. I hope she will get another chance,’ wrote Diana Belbita on Twitter.
‘I hope she heals quickly. I hate to see that,’ wrote Cody Durden.

‘Awwwww that arm. I could feel the pain,’ commented Thiago Moises.
After the the bout, Dudakova reacted to the incident during her post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.
‘I wanted to fight. I wanted it to be a longer fight. Unfortunately, who would have thought I could break arms without even wanting to do so.
‘I was ready one hundred percent. I really wanted to have a great scrap, but really I wanted to finish it in the first round. So, everything is God’s will.’
