Ashutosh Gowariker, who is known for blockbusters like ‘Lagaan: Once Upon A Time in India’, ‘Swades’ and ‘Jodha Akbar’, is finally heading on the OTT space with a web series called ‘Kaala Paani’. This will be his OTT debut as an actor and not as a producer or a director.
The maverick filmmaker’s last acting stint was in the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Marathi film ‘Ventilator’, which released back in 2016.Before that, he was last seen in a TV series, which he quit to direct ‘Lagaan’ for Aamir Khan’s production house. Ashutosh Gowariker has also worked on projects like ‘Circus’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Chamatkar’ and ‘Naam’.
Sameer Saxena the producer, co-director and showrunner of ‘Kaala Paani’ mentions, “The series is a survival drama featuring an ensemble of characters who are all trying to escape the wrath of nature, as the vast sea confines them for thousands of kilometers. In this invisible battle between humans and nature, these individuals discover that their destinies are intertwined, not just with each other, but also with the environment.”
‘Kaala Paani’ boasts of a versatile cast comprising Mona Singh, Amey Wagh, Sukant Goel, Arushi Sharma, Radhika Mehrotra and Vikas Kumar to name a few. It is backed by Sameer Saxena, Saurabh Khanna, Amit Golani and Biwapati Sarkar, who are known for the path-breaking content they created for ‘The Viral Fever’.
