Trial Period: Genelia Deshmukh reveals she spoke to a lot of single parents to prepare for her role | Hindi Movie News – Times of India

Genelia Deshmukh might not be picking up many projects, but she has been around for 20 years and is one of the most loved actors in tinsel town. Last year, the mother of two returned to movies after a decade-long break, to work with husband Riteish Deshmukh in a Marathi film Ved, which turned out to be a huge success at the BO. Now, she is making a comeback to Bollywood with Trial Period, where she plays a single mother, who gives in to her son’s demand of having a ‘trial’ father.
Talking about how she prepared for her role, Genelia in an interview, mentioned that she spoke to a lot of single mothers to understand the complexities of their lives. She also added that she had never played a Bengali woman earlier, but her director Aleya Sen was crystal clear on how her character should behave and express.
She also highlighted that Aleya and costume designer Karishma Gulati worked together for months to create an individualistic look for her in the film, she also mentioned that often in the quest of glamour, actors forget their characters.
Aleya Sen, who earlier directed Taapsee Pannu in Dil Juunglee, mentioned that she usually doesn’t keep an actor in mind when she writes a story. But for this one, she only has Genelia in her mind. Talking about her working experience with Genelia, Aleya mentioned that the actor was open to everything – from look tests to reading sessions to getting into the skin of the character.
