Aston Villa starlet Jacob Ramsey could miss up to a month of Aston Villa’s Premier League campaign as he recovers from a broken metatarsal.
The stark news comes in the wake of the forward’s tournament-ending injury, which Ramsey picked up during England’s 1-0 victory of Portugal in the quarter-finals of the under-21 European Championship.
After beating Israel 3-0 in their semi-final clash, England will play Spain in the final on Saturday afternoon – in a tie that will be viewable on Channel 4 after the broadcaster struck a late deal with UEFA – in a bid to take home their first European trophy since 1984.
Ramsey has been a standout for Lee Carsley’s side, and his increasing influence under Unai Emery at Villa means that news of his prolonged recovery time will come as a blow to the Midlands club.

After medical assessments, it seems that Ramsey will now miss the start of Aston Villa’s season
As per Birmingham Live, the 22-year-old will miss all of Villa’s pre-season ties, and up to the first four of Aston Villa’s opening matches.
The Villans will face Newcastle, Burnley, Everton, and Liverpool in a schedule not without pitfalls as they kick off their 2023-23 campaign.
The talented forward’s time at Villa Park was invigorated by the arrival of Emery, who took over the club in the wake of the firing of Steven Gerrard.

Of the six goals and further six assists Ramsey made during his 35 appearances for Villa last season, 11 of the goal contributions came under the Spanish manager.
Villa are looking to build on a strong end to last season, which saw the side book a place in the Europa Conference Leage after they finished seventh in a competitive Premier League table.
Emery has already recruited Youri Tielemans from relegated Leicester, and inked a deal to bring in Pau Torres from Villarreal.
The club are also said to be tracking Tielemans’ team-mate Harvey Barnes, and Barcelona winger Ferran Torres, who previously featured in the league at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
