Titan submersible photos haunt internet, show vessel ‘imploded at bottom of sea’

The Canadian Coast Guard pier in St. John’s, Newfoundland became the site where the Titan’s wreckage was unveiled to the world. Recent photographs captured the solemn scene as pieces of twisted metal were carefully unloaded from the ship Horizon Arctic. Among the fragments were a big, curved piece of white metal and a bunch of wires and gears, all covered in a tarpaulin sheet to keep them safe.

“We’ve finished our offshore (actions) and are basically demobilizing now and getting the team back to their loved ones and we’re going to get our assets back to our operations base in New York,” said OceanGate spokesperson to AP.

The company spokesperson also stated that the search and rescue operation that continued for days, launched immediately after the submersible lost contact with its mother ship, namely, the Polar Prince had been “an extremely risky operation.”
