World’s legendary restaurant list includes 7 Indian restaurants – Times of India

Amongst the global culinary tapestry, Indian cuisine stands as a vibrant and influential force, captivating palates with its diverse flavours, aromatic spices, and time-honoured cooking techniques. Recently, Taste Atlas (the experiential travel online guide) announced its list of “Most Legendary Restaurants in the World and Their Iconic Dishes”, and to everyone’s surprise, as many as 7 restaurants from India made it to the list.

As per Taste Atlas, “These food joints are not just places to grab a meal but destinations in their own right, comparable to the world’s most famous museums, galleries and monuments.”
The restaurants that have made it to the list are Kerala‘s historic Paragon restaurant based in Kozhikode (Rank 11), Tunday Kababi in Lucknow (Rank 12), Peter Cat in Kolkata (Rank 17), Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba in Murthal (Rank 23), Mavali Tiffin Rooms in Bangalore (Rank 39), Karim’s in Delhi (Rank 87), and Ram Ashraya in Mumbai (Rank 112).

As per the list, Paragon restaurant, which was established in the year 1939 serves Malabar cuisine and its iconic Biryani is something that people enjoy the most. While the Galouti Kebab of Tunday Kebabi is the best in Lucknow. On the other hand, the Chelow Kebab of The Peter Cat was named in the list.

We all love Amrik Sukhdev for its Parathas and this is what Taste Atlas has mentioned in its list. The Aloo Paratha of Amrik Sukhdev has been named the best. Mavali Tiffin Rooms’ Rava Idli is something that South Indians love the most, and Mutton Korma of Karim’s is something that people look forward to when it comes to while visiting these restaurants. The Upma of Mumbai’s Ram Ashraya restaurant is what people like to have in this restaurant, and all these restaurant’s dishes have been described in the list.
Topping this list is Vienna’s Figlmuller whose ‘Schnitzel Wiener Art’ is the star dish, NYC’s Katz’s Delicatessen came at second, where people love ‘Pastrami on Rye’, and third in this list is Indonesia’s Warung Mak Beng, whose ‘Ikan Goreng’ is enjoyed the most. Ikan Goreng is nothing but a deep-fried fish that’s served with different condiments and is cooked in several ways.
