Delhi man sets Guinness World Record by covering all metro stations in min. time

The record was set by a Delhi-based freelance researcher, Shashank Manu. Shashank loves to travel in Delhi Metro and created the record of covering 286 metro stations of Delhi in April 2021. To create the Guinness World Record, Shashank began his journey at 5 am on the blye line. He was able to travel across 286 metro stations till 8:30 pm at the Brigadier Hoshiar Singh station located on the green line of the Delhi Metro.

However, he wasn’t able to get recognition from the Guiness World Records because of a misunderstanding. Due to the confusion the award was given to another person named Prafull Singh. He completed the journey of all the metro in 16 hours and 2 minutes in August 2021. In the same year, Sashank completed the entire journey in 15 hours 22 minutes, 49 seconds. To complete his record-breaking journey, Shashank used a one-day tourist card which let him avail the benefit pf unlimited one-day ride on that day.

Due to the confusion, Manu was able to get the Guiness World Record after two years of creating it on April 2023. The idea to cover all the metro stations of India’s capital came into Manu’s head during the COVID pandemic, Manu told The Indian Express. He decided to make the record after the metro services resumed after the lock-down.

As a proof of his journey, Manu made sure to click photographs at every metro station. Moreover, he also got the photograph verified by the fellow passengers by asking them to sign a receipt as ‘independent witnesses’.

For the authentication of his record, he also made an uncut video of the whole attempt. He made sure to record his video throughout his journey without any pause. This helped him keep a track of his starting and closing time of the train coach’s doors at every station.
