Race report FINALLY out next week as Yorkshire await fate for admitting ECB racism charges… with over four thousand testimonies given to the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket

  • ECB lawyers recommended changes to the draft report over fears of being sued
  • The commission was set up in 2020 and its report was expected last September
  • It is expected that Yorkshire will be given a points deduction and fine

The long-awaited independent report into discrimination in cricket will finally be published next Tuesday — the same day that Yorkshire will discover their punishment for admitting four ECB racism charges.

Mail Sport revealed on Friday that ECB lawyers have recommended changes to the draft report produced by the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC), amid fears of being sued if those accused of racism can be identified. The revision process is close to completion, with the ICEC accepting that some details need to be removed in order to guarantee the anonymity of both whistle-blowers and those accused of discrimination.

Over 4,000 testimonies have been given to the ICEC, whose report also covers issues of gender and social class.

The commission was set up by the ECB in November 2020 and its report was initially expected last September, but has been hit by recurring delays.

The ICEC have confirmed it will now be published on the same day as Yorkshire’s sanction hearing. That is expected to result in the county being given a points deduction and a fine after admitting four charges of presiding over a racist culture and destroying evidence.
