Virat Kohli pens note after RCB’s elimination from IPL 2023
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fought till the last game in the Indian Premier League 2023, but couldn’t make it to the playoffs. Virat Kohli, who had a wonderful season penned a beautiful note for his team and supporters of the franchise and also expressed his disappointment over felling short of their goal.
“A season which had it’s moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high. To our loyal supporters, grateful for backing us every step of the way. A big thank you to the coaches, management and my teammates. We aim to be back stronger,” Virat Kohli wrote on Instagram.
Virat Kohli played exceptionally well during the IPL 2023 tournament and in the last match against Gujarat Titans (GT) smashed his second hundred of the season. With a strike rate of above 139 and an average of 53.25, Virat Kohli scored a total of 639 runs in the IPL 2023 season. The legendary Indian player also secured six half-centuries and two centuries in the season.
On Sunday, RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis also expressed his disappointment over their elimination from the IPL 2023. The skipper talked about several shortcomings of his team.
“Very disappointed. We played a really strong team tonight, an amazing hundred from Shubman. It was really wet in the second innings. It was wet in the first innings as well, but there was not a lot of grip in the second innings and also we had to change the ball quite a few times during the second innings. Virat played an unbelievable knock to give us a chance and thought that was a good score, but Shubman played incredibly well to take the game away from us,” Faf said.
“From a batting perspective, the top 4 contributed really well. We missed a few runs from the middle order consistently throughout the season, especially in the back end of the innings, and also in the middle overs perhaps didn’t get as many wickets as we would have liked. He (Kohli) played really good cricket throughout the season and as a partnership probably not a single game where we had anything under 40 as an opening combination. We need to improve well on finishing games, especially in the back end. Last year DK (Dinesh Karthik) had a purple patch and was finishing games left right, and center, but this season it was not to be. And if you see the teams that succeed they have some good hitters at five at six probably six and seven,” he added.
