Harry Kane scores a worldie from a free-kick move to open the scoring for Tottenham versus Brentford
Harry Kane scores a worldie from a free-kick move to open the scoring for Tottenham just over seven minutes into their match against Brentford… in what could be the England captain’s last home game for Spurs
Harry Kane has struck home an absolute belter from a free-kick move in the opening minutes of Tottenham’s home game against Brentford – in what could be his last home game for Spurs.
The England captain broke the deadlock for the hosts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just over seven minutes into the Premier League encounter on Saturday afternoon, after Juventus loanee Dejan Kulusevski had played the ball off to Kane.
There was nothing that Brentford goalkeeper David Raya could do about the blistering strike as it flew into the top corner of the goal.
BT Sport Football posted the video of the goal with the caption: ‘Harry Kane with a rocket. Simply sensational free-kick from the Spurs skipper opens the score!’
Kane is currently handling Tottenham’s captaincy in the absence of usual armband holder Hugo Lloris.

BT’s lead commentator Darren Fletcher said: ‘Simply magnificent.’
On co-commentary, Lucy Ward noted the importance of set-pieces to Spurs this season. She added: ‘The script was written when they started singing his name as the referee was sorting the wall out.’
Spurs are looking to keep up their race for a European finish, but there remains a lot of uncertainty about Kane’s future with the club.
Daniel Levy has vowed he will not sell Kane to an English rival despite the strong rumours
Some reports suggest that Kane is planning to see out his Tottenham contract before leaving next summer on a free transfer.
But the club may also listen to offers to sell him this year. While Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has insisted he would not sell Kane to an English rival, Manchester United remain the hot favourites to sign the 29-year-old in the off-season.
Another report suggested that Kane’s representatives had met with PSG chief Luis Campos to talk about a move to the French capital this summer.
Levy told Tottenham fans that he understands their frustration as the club has failed to live up to expectations, although he vows to work ‘relentlessly’ to improve Spurs’ fortunes.
