14-year-old girl gets shot while playing hide-and-seek in US

A man, who belongs from Louisiana, has been nabbed for the shooting of a 14-year-old girl. The child was playing hide-and-seek at the time of the incident, media reports said.

The incident happened in the small town of Starks, Louisiana on early Sunday. The town is located near the Texas state line.

The man, who is 58-year-old, has been charged by the officials in Southwest Louisiana in connection with the shooting of a group of juveniles, who were playing hide-and-seek. One of the children was injured in the incident.

“A group of juveniles were playing hide and seek in the area and were hiding on the property of the neighbour when David V. Doyle fired his weapon,” the authorities said.

The accused told the detectives that he observed “shadows outside his home, at which time he went inside and retrieved his firearm. He then advised detectives he went back outside and observed people running away from his property, at which time he began shooting at them,” as per the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office release.

Doyle has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, aggravated battery and illegal discharge of a firearm, the officials said.

In the incident, a 14-year-old girl was shot in the back of the head. She was sent to the hospital with “non-life threatening injuries,” the officials added.The shooting occurred in an area, where there is a dead-end and only three residents live: the victim’s family, Doyle and a relative of the victim’s family, the reports said.
