Tottenham’s set-piece specialist coach Gianni Vio will reportedly remain at the club following the sacking of interim manager Cristian Stellini on Monday.
Tottenham parted ways with Stellini just 24 hours after their humbling 6-1 defeat to Newcastle at St James’ Park.
Stellini lasted only four games at the helm after replacing Antonio Conte, who he previously assisted, and all of Conte and Stellini’s staff were expected to be moved on by Spurs.
However, Vio is set to stay in his role to work alongside Tottenham’s new interim boss Ryan Mason, according to the Evening Standard, making him the only member of Conte’s staff to keep his position.
Vio arrived at Tottenham last summer with a big reputation after working with Italy when they won Euro 2020.

Having devised a staggering 4,000 different set-piece routines, Vio helped give the Azzurri the edge during that tournament, with Leonardo Bonucci scoring from a corner in the final against England.
The 70-year-old’s influence has also been clear at Spurs this year as the team have thrived from dead-ball situations.
Excluding penalties, Tottenham have scored 14 goals from set-pieces in the Premier League this term, according to Stats Perform – only Liverpool (15) have scored more.

This accounts for 24% of Spurs’ league goals, highlighting how reliant they’ve been on set-pieces.
The Lilywhites have been particularly strong from corners with 13 of their goals coming from these situations, more than any other Premier League side.
Spurs have also done well from a defensive perspective when it comes to set-pieces excluding penalties, conceding just seven times.
Only six top-flight teams have shipped fewer goals.
The numbers look less impressive when breaking it down to goals conceded from corners, though, as Tottenham rank joint-11th in the league in this category.
