Madhoo reveals why she decided to quit films; talks about facing sexism in the industry – Times of India
The actress told a news portal that she was playing the heroine role, so all the heroines at that time were typecast. They had some amazing songs to dance and sing to and then they had a few romantic scenes. However, she did get to do a few films like Yeshwant, Pehchaan and even her first film, Phool Aur Kaante. She played varied kinds of roles in different languages and stated that she had no complaints about the roles that came her way.
Elaborating further, Madhoo added that at one point towards the end of her career, she decided to exit, and that’s when she started to feel she wanted to do more but she was not getting those kinds of roles.
The actress went on to add that she was part of an era where action and action heroes were given the whole movie. They were all about action and revenge, with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Ajay Devgn on the rides. Having done films like Yodha, and Roja in the south, she wanted more movies like these to come her way, but they did not. So she found her life partner and decided to exit. Madhoo also added that she has no regrets about that.
Madhoo will next be seen in ‘Shaakuntalam’ which stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a lead role.
