Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi RIPS into Romelu Lukaku over his goalscoring woes
‘I wouldn’t stop with the Salernitana miss, I would also think about Fiorentina’: Inter Milan boss RIPS into Romelu Lukaku over his goalscoring woes as he fumes over ‘results we hadn’t envisaged’ amid team’s poor form
- Inter Milan have managed just two goals in their last five Serie A games
- Simone Inzaghi has criticised Romelu Lukaku’s finishing amid their poor form
- The former Manchester United man has scored just three league goals this year
Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi has hit out at Romelu Lukaku’s finishing in recent matches.
The Nerazzurri have hit something of a rut in the past month, winning none of their last six games and taking just one point from their last four in Serie A.
Inzaghi has placed some of the blame on the finishing of Belgian striker Lukaku, who is on loan from Chelsea.
When asked about missed chances in Inter’s 1-1 draw with Salernitana, the boss replied: ‘I spoke about the head. I wouldn’t just stop with Salernitana either, I would also think about the chance against Fiorentina.’
Inzaghi’s side lost 1-0 to Fiorentina earlier this month, with Lukaku missing a tap-in from close range.

The Italian manger continued: ‘Those games gave us two results that weren’t what we had envisaged. Those who write and those who talk a lot are influenced by the results, but you have to be clear-headed.
‘It’s difficult in football to put things to one side, but in the last few games, as shown by the team, I’m happy. Clearly I’m disappointed with the result.
‘Last year we won 5-0 [against Salernitana] and maybe we didn’t play as well as that on Friday.

‘In the first half alone we had four shots on goal and scored three, this time we had more than twenty and scored one. We know where we were wrong, there are always criticisms.’
Lukaku has scored just three league goals in 17 appearances for Inter this season, a sharp contrast to his previous spell at the club.
Under Antonio Conte, the Belgian managed 64 goals in 95 games, as he helped the Italian giants to a Scudetto and Europa League final.
His European form has been better this season with two goals in three appearances, and Tuesday’s Champions League quarter final against Benfica could be the perfect chance for Luakaku to find form again.
