Jake Paul admits his altercation with Floyd Mayweather outside an NBA game was STAGED as a PR stunt

‘We were like “let’s set this up and make it go viral!’”: Jake Paul shockingly admits his altercation with Floyd Mayweather game was STAGED as a PR stunt, as the former YouTuber boasts ‘it went on every single news page’

Jake Paul has admitted his apparent altercation with Floyd Mayweather outside an NBA game was set up as a PR stunt.

The former YouTuber claimed he was ‘jumped’ by Mayweather along with ’50 dudes’ while leaving a Miami Heat game last month.

A video of the confrontation sees Mayweather standing in the middle of a large group of people outside the stadium, with one of his entourage taunting Paul about his loss to Fury, saying, ‘What happened, you’re not tough anymore, since your loss? What happened since your loss? Are we gonna bust him up guys?’

Paul is seen awkwardly backing away from the group before he begins sprinting down the road – with Mayweather’s team yelling: ‘He’s running!’

He has now revealed the whole stunt was set up, though.

When asked by Wade Plem if it was a PR stunt, Paul replied: ‘Yeah, it was.’

‘We were like lets set this up and make it go viral, and it did. It went on like every single news page and outlet, we needed people to think it was real.’

The 26-year-old then showed Plem a picture of himself sharing a meal with Mayweather, which seemed to dispel any apparent animosity between the pair.

Fans had good reason to believe the incident was real, after Paul and Mayweather previously faced off before ‘Money’s fight with Jake’s brother Logan.

The unbeaten fighter was left furious when Paul snatched his baseball cap off him and ran away, resulting in a melee as both entourages clashed.

There has long been talk of a fight between Paul and Mayweather – who has been enjoying his post boxing career by fighting a number of inexperienced fighters and social media personalities in exhibition contests around the world.

The latest came against former Geordie Shore star Aaron Chalmers, which went the distance of eight rounds. Previously he fought Deji – the brother of YouTuber KSI – in Dubai, while he has also got in the ring with Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and former sparring partner Don Moore.

After also facing Logan in June 2021, fans have been clamouring for a fight between Jake and Mayweather for some time, but the undefeated star shut down those rumours at his press conference for the Chalmers fight.

‘We spoke to Jake Paul before and we can only do an exhibition because of the weight disadvantage. I’m not chasing it anymore. I have accomplished everything I could in boxing. We have so many young fighters in boxing today.

‘Give them a chance to go out there so they can shine. It’s not about Jake Paul, it’s not about Floyd Mayweather. I’m going to entertain the people so support me and my opponent.’
