Gauri Khan, who is happily married to Shah Rukh Khan, once faced the challenge of convincing her parents about their marriage. SRK was a Muslim by religion and he was going to be an actor.
Recalling the same, the star wife told Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla on their show First Ladies in 2008 that her parents were obviously not for it. She shared that they were very young and then to take a decision to get married and to a person who is going to join films, and being from a different religion was difficult.

Elaborating further, Gauri added that they changed Shah Rukh’s name to Abhinav so the parents could feel that he was Hindu. However, she also admitted that it was really silly and very childish.

In the same interview, Gauri also spoke about celebrating the festivals of both religions and also stated that for their kids, it is all fantastic.

Shah Rukh and Gauri are blessed with three kids- Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. While Aaryan will be making his debut as a writer in an upcoming web series, Suhana will be following her father’s footsteps and venturing into acting. She is making her debut with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’.

Shah Rukh, on the other hand, has projects like Atlee’s ‘Jawan’ and Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’ in his pipeline.
