Scottish soccer star says Ange Postecoglou could leave Celtic for Tottenham
Scottish soccer star says Ange Postecoglou could LEAVE Celtic for Tottenham as Aussie is listed as a contender to take over from Antonio Conte
- Postecoglou a candidate for Spurs hot seat
- Scottish pundit believes Postecoglou could go
- Tam McManus says Spurs would be tempting
Ange Postecoglou has emerged as a candidate to take over at Tottenham Hotspur following the departure of Antonio Conte – and a top Scottish pundit and former player believes it could happen.
Conte left his position as Spurs manager by mutual agreement earlier this week, with assistant coach Cristian Stellini taking charge for the rest of the season.
The North London club is now on the hunt for their next head coach, with Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto De Zerbi and Brendan Rodgers among the frontrunners.
Celtic manager Postecoglou, 57, is also being mentioned as a contender for the Spurs hot seat – by both The Scotsman and The Telegraph – for the wonders he has worked in Glasgow over the last 18 months.
The former Socceroos coach has been linked to several EPL clubs already this season, but has hosed down speculation while insisting that he ‘couldn’t be happier’ at the Glasgow powerhouse.

Tam McManus, an ex-Hibernian striker and football pundit, says it will be a different story if a top club like Spurs are involved, and that Postecoglou might just jump ship.
‘Postecoglou wasn’t tempted by other offers from the likes of Crystal Palace, Brighton and Everton,’ he told Football Insider.
‘I don’t think he’s going to leave them for a team not in Europe.
‘But Spurs will be extremely tempting and they have a lot of appeal as a club.
‘They have a fantastic stadium and world-class players and I think he would leave Glasgow if Tottenham came calling.
‘But he is doing very well at Celtic and building a long-term project there.
‘It would be a huge decision to make.’
In January, former Socceroo Robbie Slater said if Postecoglou joined Everton – who remain in a relegation dogfight – it would be an act of ‘folly’.

The premiership-winner with Blackburn Rovers went onto label the Toffees a ‘club in crisis’ and urged Postecoglou to stay put.
Veteran Scottish manager Steve Evans is clearly a fan of ‘Aussie Ange’.
He declared the former Socceroos boss is good enough in his eyes to one day be in charge of EPL giants Liverpool.
