Taapsee Pannu was rejected by a saree brand because she was ‘too young’! – Times of India

Taapsee Pannu has earned her spot in Bollywood, having delivered ace performances in hits like ‘Pink’, ‘Thappad’ and ‘Badla’ to name a few. However, she had a tough time making a start in the acting industry.
In a recent interview, Taapsee recalled being rejected by a saree brand because of her young looks. The actress revealed that her mother helped her financially to make a portfolio and she started getting a few advertisements post that. Taapsee revealed that she was approached by a big saree brand for their catalogue shoot but was rejected as they felt she looked too young. Taapsee told The Lallantop that she had just started her second year in college, while the brand wanted someone who looked like a ‘woman’.

Taapsee Pannu will soon be seen essaying a pivotal role in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’. She has been paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan in this drama. Speaking about the project, Taapsee had shared, “I think with that kind of a combination where Raju sir and Shah Rukh sir are in the same film, even if they would have asked me to be a tree in the background, I would have done that. The fact that there is a very solid love story in the film, the fact that this is probably one of the strongest roles that in this kind of a set-up a girl (heroine) can imagine doing — all of this is a bonus. I am seeing this film as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It has happened to me after a decade of working here and every day of the film shoot, I treated it like it might never happen again, so let’s just make the most of it. I am taking home a lot of new things that I learnt from both of them as a professional.” ‘Dunki’ is scheduled to hit the screens in December this year.
