The Bride Wore a Chanel Couture Wedding Dress Inspired by Claudia Schiffer
While guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the lawn, Grace and Matthew took a moment for themselves, before preparing to enter the dinner tent in grand style. “We waltzed into our first dance under the disco ball to the song ‘Baby’ by Donnie and Joe Emerson, just before the track transitioned into James Brown’s ‘Get Up Offa That Thing’ performed by our house band, The Collective,” says Grace, noting that they then invited all of their guests to join them on the dance floor before beginning the hora. “Major shoutout to all of our very strong friends who not only hoisted me high into the air but also made sure absolutely nothing happened to my wedding dress—not sure how we pulled that one off, but thank you!”
For dinner, fresh local lobster, steak, grilled vegetables, and traditional Jamaican sauces and sides were served—but for the couple, dancing remained a top priority. “We also decided to forego a traditional cake-cutting moment in favor of sustaining the upbeat energy of the evening, so Matthew and I casually stepped aside the dance floor to cut the cake just the two of us over a glass of champagne,” Grace says. “I knew from the start that my wedding cake had to be Funfetti with buttercream frosting; it’s my favorite flavor and a real testament to my love of desserts.”
Grace then changed into something more suitable for dancing, just before Nile Rodgers and Chic surprised guests and performed a collection of iconic tracks. “He introduced himself with the song ‘Le Freak’ and the crowd immediately burst into an unending boogie that lasted for the entirety of his set,” Grace remembers. “For his finale, Nile invited Matthew and I to dance on stage with him to the song ‘Good Times’ as rainbow confetti cascaded over the dance floor—a moment that came to wonderfully encapsulate the electric energy, love, and magic of the evening; it was pure and unadulterated joy.”
Nile then introduced Mark Ronson, who played a two-hour medley of hip-hop, reggae, funk, soul, and disco. “Everyone was smiling and sweating from start to finish—Mark killed it and kept the momentum at an all-time high,” Grace says. “Finally, our friend Kaz James took over and DJed a cosmic set until sunrise. At the end, Matthew and I walked down the beach at 7:00 a.m., hand in hand, blissfully in awe of the love and magic we all shared.”
