Aussie world champion boxer Ebanie Bridges has marked International Women’s Day by posting a video clip of her stripping down to see-through lingerie and calling on women to ‘express themselves’.
Bridges, who is the current IBF bantamweight champion, has won swathes of fans with her disarming sense of humour, aggressive boxing style and eye-catching weigh-in outfits.
The former maths teacher has also been criticised for her bold approach to the sport – for which she refuses to apologise.
‘I know I got a lot of stick for it,’ Bridges says in the video she posted of herself stripping down.
‘But I just never gave up and I stayed true to myself because I think it’s an important message for everyone that you need to stay true to yourself.

‘You know, don’t let other people tell you who you should be, what you should do, especially us as women.
‘We’ve been told what we should do, how we should look, what we can and can’t do, what we can and can’t say for years.
‘It’s not the 1920’s, it’s not the 1950’s, it’s 2023 now and it’s about time that women were able to express themselves as an individual in a way that they want without being judged and without being told that they can’t.’
Bridges received plenty of support from her 730,000 followers on Instagram.
‘Thank you for everything you’ve saved me from. Never stop… Happy International Women’s Day. Keep inspiring and never dull your personality to suit anyone else,’ posted a follower.
‘You are incredible! Always has and always will be a true inspiration,’ commented a second.
‘I could watch that footage over and over! Your work rate, trailblazing efforts and self belief are an inspiration to everyone, not just women,’ said a third.
Bridges appeared on talkSPORT Breakfast on Tuesday morning where she told host Laura Woods that she cops a lot of flak online for her approach to marketing and promotion.

Bridges (pictured in her successful title defence against fellow Aussie Shannon O’Connell) says she’s been fighting judgmental people her whole life
‘It’s something different and people can’t handle it, they’re not open minded,’ Bridges said.
‘I think it’s very empowering to do something that people don’t agree with because it’s good to do what’s right for you and I’m hoping I can inspire other women to not give a f*** what other people think and do what’s right for you.
‘Don’t care what people say online, I get as many good comments as bad comments, but who are they? How much money are they making? I’m pretty sure if they could make money and do it they would.
‘It’s judgemental and I’ve been fighting judgemental people and closed-minded people my whole life and I’ll keep doing it to set an example.’
Bridges is currently recovering from a injury to her hand that she sustained while beating fellow Australian, Shannon O’Connell.
