Samsung: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 may have a bigger external display than Oppo Find N2 Flip – Times of India

Samsung has been the biggest player in the foldable smartphone market for some time now. Later on, other brands like Motorola and Oppo also entered the segment with new products to compete with the South Korea-based tech giant. Chinese smartphone maker Oppo recently revealed its first-ever flip foldable phone, the Find N2 Flip for the global market. Meanwhile, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphone in mid-2023. The latest rumour claims that the next Samsung flip foldable phone will have a bigger external display compared to the Oppo Find N2 Flip. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 5 will succeed the Galaxy Z Flip 4 which was released in 2022.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5: What to expect
According to a tweet posted by a tipster named Ice Universe Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to have a larger cover display than the newly-released Oppo Find N2 Flip. To compare, Oppo’s latest flip phone has a 3.26-inch external display, which is much larger than the Z Flip 4’s 1.9-inch cover display.

Display supply chain analyst Ross Young also made a similar prediction for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in December 2022. Young claimed that Samsung’s next flip phone will ship with an external display which will be bigger than 3-inches in size.

He also suggested that Samsung might use a new hinge design for the upcoming foldable. This hinge design will aim to reduce the visibility of the screen crease.

Importance of a larger cover display in foldable phones
Foldable devices like the Oppo Find N2 Flip and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series smartphones that ship with a bigger cover display allow users to do more without having to unfold the phones. Users can set a timer, check the weather or send a quick reply to an incoming message directly from the external display in supported foldable smartphones.
