Samsung: This Samsung Galaxy S23 gaming feature may come in older models – Times of India
What is Pause USB Power Delivery
Also known as the battery bypass feature, it stops the phone’s battery from charging, and instead sends the power from the connected charger directly to the chipset. The Pause USB Power Delivery feature claims to improve the gaming performance of the phone by stopping the battery from warming up. This charging bypass feature is available in the Game Booster section of the Game Launcher app and can be activated only during gaming sessions.
Samsung claims that this feature will also help in improving the battery health of the smartphone. As per the company, when the phone is not charging continuously, the feature reduces the battery charge cycle to keep the battery healthy for a longer time.
Older Galaxy models may get this feature
According to a report by Sammobile, users in some regions have spotted the feature in older models like the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy A73. The report adds that the gaming feature is appearing only for users who have updated the Game Booster app to version 5.0.03.0.
Moreover, for some users, the feature is working only with Samsung’s 45W USB PD charger. As per the report, the toggle to enable the battery bypass feature has been available in even older models like the Galaxy S21 series.
However, the support for this feature might be currently limited to mid-range and high-end phones released in 2022 and later. The report mentions that the feature didn’t work on a Galaxy S21 Ultra despite using a 45W charger. This feature was first discovered by a blogger named NL Tech.
