Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies prediction and odds for Friday, February 10 (is Memphis done losing?)
The Memphis Grizzlies are clinging to the second seed in the Western Conference right now at 33-21, but it wasn’t long ago when they were even with Denver for the top spot. A 2-8 record in their last 10 games has left them four games back of the Nuggets, and just two ahead of Sacramento. One of those eight Memphis losses was to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who shook up their roster since that meeting on January 27.
Minnesota traded away D’Angelo Russell and got back Mike Conley for their point-guard spot. On Wednesday, Minnesota ran up the score on the Jazz and are 30-28 overall. Let’s get into the odds for this matchup, a rematch from the playoffs last season.
Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies odds, spread and total
Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies prediction and pick
The Grizzlies have the second worst record in the NBA over the last ten games, only the Spurs are worse. They have a -4.6 net rating and the second worst offensive rating in the league while also posting the second highest turnover percentage over that stretch. The Grizzlies are 24th across the entire season in three-point percentage, 34.5%, so they are not a good shooting team, but they’re even worse right now, 29th, 31.1%, in that ten game sample.
Minnesota on the other side is coming in as hot as any team. They hit 23-of-43 threes against Utah and Anthony Edwards had 31 points. Even Luka Garza had 25 in that one. Eventually the Grizzlies will have to turn things around and it seems like they’re trying to do it on the defensive end of the floor after giving up just 89 points to Chicago, though the Bulls didn’t have DeMar DeRozen. I need more proof than just that to convince me that Memphis is back. I’ll take Minnesota, though shooting regression could hit and hurt them in a big way.
