However, the striker has scored just three goals during his spell and Man City are considering ending his time at the Bet365 Stadium.
Delap will likely then be sent out on loan again but to a different club amid interest from others this January.
It took the City striker nine games to open his account for Stoke and he has since only scored in successive games after the World Cup break.

Delap netted in a 2-2 draw with Cardiff City before scoring again in a 2-1 win away to Bristol City.
The speculation comes just a day after his father Rory Delap left his role as a first-team coach at the Potters for a second time.
Delap Jnr has played just six times for his parent club, Manchester City, scoring once in the League Cup.
The striker is yet to feature in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola’s side.
