The first, all-too-fleeting glimpses of Harry Styles (and Emma Corrin and David Dawson) in the forthcoming queer drama My Policeman have dropped, and they are quite promising. Amazon Prime Video shared two photos from the film adaptation of Bethan Roberts’s exquisitely angst-filled novel—telling the story of a love triangle between a Brighton, England-based policeman (Styles), his wife (Corrin), and his elder, erudite lover (Dawson)—on Twitter Thursday morning. For the uninitiated, think of it as Brokeback in Brighton.
According to Vanity Fair, Amazon has also set a release date—great news for the frothing Styles faithful who followed pretty much every day of the filming of this movie. My Policeman will debut in theaters in the U.S. and U.K on October 21 and will be available to stream worldwide two weeks later, on November 4. Below, a few thoughts on the first look at My Policeman.

- The purity of Harry Styles’s face as he pensively stares at art! Clearly, this bodes well for his performance.
- Our kingdom for Harry’s hair, as perfectly coiffed as ever.
- Those who have read the source material know that Styles is perfectly cast as Tom, a dutiful, if stifled, Brighton bobby who falls for Patrick (Dawson), a cultured museum curator who starts to broaden his worldview. The first photo above highlights this dynamic.
- A moment for Dawson, who is not as mainstream a star as Styles or Corrin (yet), but looks incredibly distinguished here in Art Man mode.
- Note Corrin’s placement between Tom and Patrick. This is a metaphor for things to come. No spoilers, but Corrin’s Marion, a teacher, isn’t always the odd woman out in this triangle.
- Moving on to this sun-drenched photo of Styles and Corrin hanging out in a pool. Still no spoilers, but, as evidenced by his prominent shoulders, Tom is an avid swimmer who gets to know Marion better by giving her swim lessons. In the book, they mostly waded into the frigid ocean (one would follow Styles anywhere) but it’s clear there may be some pool laps in the film version.
- Styles’s wet hair: still good.
- This may be a still photo, but I’m sensing the chemistry between Styles and Corrin (who, incidentally, share stylist Harry Lambert in real life).
- This glimpse leaves me longing for a trailer—or even a mere teaser. My hopes are as high as ever that My Policeman will be as beautifully wrenching as the book that inspired it.
