‘83’ box office first weekend collection: Ranveer Singh’s sports drama rakes in Rs 44 crore – Times of India

‘83’ has managed a decent collection at the end of its first week at the box office but it fell short of the 50 crore mark. The film got the advantage of Christmas holiday, which added considerably to its business. According to boxofficeindia.com, ’83’ collected around 45 crore nett at the end of its first weekend. The film performed well in metros but beyond that, other centres failed to contribute majorly to the collection.

Gujarat, Mysore and East Punjab circuits have done well for the movie. However in other markets, the film faced stiff competition from the Hindi dubbed version of ‘Pushpa’. Ditto for Ranveer: If he won’t portray Kapil correctly, the audience will not forgive him. And as you see from the trailer, he has done it brilliantly. He worked very hard.” Deepika Padukone, who is co-producing the movie, plays the role of Ranveer’s onscreen wife in this entertainer. ‘83’ also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree in pivotal roles.
