83 box office collection Day 4: Ranveer Singh starrer sees a drop on first Monday; crosses Rs 50 crore mark – Times of India

The film that chronicles the Indian cricket team’s fascinating 1983 World Cup victory, earned Rs 7 crore on Monday, states a report on boxofficeindia.com. Despite the 40% drop in collections, the film still managed to sail past the 50-crore mark.

The film’s total collection now stands at an estimated Rs 51.41 crore.

83 released on December 24 across more than 3,000 screens in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

The collections on day one standing at Rs 12 crore. At the end of the weekend, aided by the Christmas holiday, the film netted Rs 44.5 crore.

While the trade was expecting the film to script box office history, many have observed that the collections of the movie may have been hampered due to the spread of the covid variant.

Speaking about the film, Ranveer said in an interview, “I felt a deep sense of responsibility to do my best, contribute and anchor a film that is very important for our nation. It is a glorious chapter in our history, an achievement that we want the coming generations to know of and feel proud of their country.”

He added, “So, I felt duty-bound to my nation, to creatively propel and empower a film that’s so important for us as a people.”

’83’ also stars Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Adinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree.
