Florence Pugh, Vogue’s February cover star, is one of the buzziest members of young Hollywood. The year 2022 was huge for the Oxford-born talent: She starred in Sebastián Lelio’s The Wonder and as an increasingly confused and desperate young housewife in Don’t Worry Darling, adding to her already-long list of memorable roles (including her turn as a breathtaking, bereaved young woman in Ari Aster’s surreal horror movie, Midsommar, and a reinvention of the often underrated Amy March in Greta Gerwig’s remake of Little Women. But there’s so much else to discover about Pugh outside of her show-stealing acting. Here, five things you might not know about Florence Pugh.
Pugh comes by her love of food honestly. The actress is known for her charming “Cooking With Flo” videos on Instagram, and her prowess in the kitchen makes sense, given that her father owns restaurants (or, more specifically, an “eclectic range of establishments, pulling from Mexican, Moroccan, Spanish, and other influences.”
She (sort of) started out singing on YouTube. While Pugh was starring in Carol Morley’s 2014 film The Calling, Morley discovered videos of Pugh singing ballads that she’d uploaded to YouTube under the name “Flossie Rose”; drawing from Pugh’s real life, Morley updated the script to make her character Abbie a musician.
She’s in a Little Women group text. It was reported in Vulture that Pugh and her castmates from the film have a group chat that mainly consists of photos of everyone in their “funny costumes.” The name? “Big Chicks.” Talk about incredible BTS content.
She did almost all her own stunts in Black Widow. Black Widow director Cate Shortland approximated that Pugh did “90%” of her own stunts on the action-adventure thriller while shooting in Budapest, which is no small feat, considering the amount of combat and chase scenes that take place in the movie.
She’s obsessed with Yorkshire tea, and carries some everywhere she goes. “Always have a travel size bag full of Yorkshire tea bags, because you never know when you’re going to need them,” she joked in an interview with Uproxx. The actress has gone on record more than once to say that she loves the tea brand. Once, she even posted a photo to Instagram of herself literally embracing a huge package of the tea.
