3 pitchers Mets should trade for after latest injury
The New York Mets’ starting rotation was once again hit by an injury, this time to Tylor Megill. Here are three pitchers that the team could trade for that won’t cost too much.
The New York Mets hold the best record in the National League as of June 17, which is impressive considering their starting rotation was decimated by injuries. Jacob deGrom has yet to make a start after suffering a stress reaction of his scapula. Max Scherzer, the team’s big free agent signing this offseason, is sidelined with an oblique injury. Even though the Mets have been holding up, they received more bad news.
Tylor Megill left the team’s June 16 game against the Milwaukee Brewers with right shoulder discomfort. After undergoing testing, Megill was diagnosed with a right shoulder strain and was subsequently placed on the injured list. This is now the second time that Megill was sidelined, as he missed a month of the season due to a biceps injury.
The Mets need to start thinking about bolstering their starting rotation, especially with the Atlanta Braves climbing up the NL East standings following a 14-game winning streak. New York can look for relatively cheap options on the trading block, and these three options stand out.

Chad Kuhl
SP Colorado Rockies
When it comes to a pitcher with starter’s experience that will not cost much in terms of prospects, Chad Kuhl of the Colorado Rockies comes to mind.
After spending the first six years of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kuhl signed a one-year, $3 million deal with Colorado. So far this season, Kuhl has put up solid numbers on a Rockies pitching staff that is among the worst in terms of ERA.
In 12 starts, Kuhl posted a 3.69 ERA, a 1.421 WHIP, a 4-4 win-loss record, 49 strikeouts and 27 walks through 63.1 innings.
This will be all dependent on whether the Rockies will actually want to trade at the deadline. Remember last year when everyone thought they would sell, only to stand pat? But given that Kuhl is a free agent at the end of this season, he will not cost too much.
