3 burning Rangers issues as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side ease past Hearts at Tynecastle
Joe Aribo has without doubt been Rangers’ best player this season and again today he just oozed class. His ability to find space in the final third and his runs from midfield are so impressive. His goal was also a touch of class. The control and finish was sublime as he guided past Craig Gordon in the Hearts goal. There has been a lot of talk about Aribo moving on from Rangers with a number of Premier League clubs interested. There is no doubt that the midfielder will depart at some stage, but Rangers need to make sure they receive a fee worthy of his talents.
ARFIELD DESERVES A NEW DEAL
Ahead of the match at Tynecastle Scott Arfield conducted an interview with Sky Sports where he discussed his contract situation at Ibrox. The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, but he is keen to extend his stay in Glasgow. Arfield struggled for game time during the tail end of Steven Gerrard’s stint as manager but he has been a regular starter under Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Canadian international should have probably found the back of the net against Hearts, but his overall midfield display was impressive. If he continues to produce that kind of display a new deal will surely be on the table for him.
MORELOS BACK TO HIS BEST
Alfredo Morelos was another who impressed at Tynecastle, and Rangers missed him when he was substituted for Scott Wright just after the 70-minute mark. Morelos’ hold up play is key for the Ibrox outfit, and they struggled to get out their own half without him on the pitch. Ryan Kent and Fashion Sakala thrived around Morelos, and they didn’t have that same focal point to bounce off when Wright was introduced. The Colombian also took his goal expertly and enjoyed his celebration in front of the Hearts support.
