The Golden State Warriors may be a prime free-agency destination right now. But that wasn’t always the case and forced some terrible decisions.

Despite their recent success, the Golden State Warriors have made plenty of mistakes in free agency. This team was not very good before the Steph Curry Era. While they did have that upset over the Mavs in the first round of the playoffs in 2007, this team really struggled to not be near the bottom of the league. Plenty of those mistakes came in free agency or with contract discussions, struggling to attract top talent or hold onto their own.

Warriors biggest free-agency mistakes: 3. Andris Biedrins

Andris Biedrins was drafted by the Warriors with the No. 11 pick of the 2004 Draft. He was a solid big man and was able to control the glass and offer some defensive value against opposing bigs, even if he couldn’t do much on offense.

The Warriors signed Andris Biedrins to a six-yea,r $54 million contract in the 2008 offseason. At first, Biedrins wasn’t horrible but he wasn’t able to play up to his contract. At the time, 54 million dollars was a lot for a team to commit to, remember this was pre-salary-cap explosion in 2016. After getting injured, the center was never the same and was traded in 2013 by the Warriors.
